Renal cell carcinoma: antitumor effects of leukocyte interferon.

Partially purified human leukocyte (alpha) interferon was administered i.m. at a dose of 3 x 10(6) units/day to 19 patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Five patients (26%) showed partial responses; two patients (10.5%), objective minor responses; three patients (16%), mixed effects (evidence of biological effect with regression of some lesions but concomitant progression); two patient...

Antiproliferative and antitumor effects of alpha-interferon in renal cell carcinomas: correlation with the expression of a kidney-associated differentiation glycoprotein.

Human leukocyte alpha-interferon (IFN-alpha) has significant antitumor activity in advanced renal cell carcinoma (RC), with approximately 15% (range, 5 to 29%) of patients subjected to IFN-alpha therapy exhibiting a major objective response. We assayed 16 RC cell lines for intrinsic sensitivity to the growth-inhibitory effects of recombinant IFN-alpha. Similar to results observed in patients, c...

Kidney-associated Differentiation Glycoprotein Cell Carcinomas: Correlation with the Expression of a -Interferon in Renal α Antiproliferative and Antitumor Effects of Updated Version

Human leukocyte a-interferon (IFN-a) has significant antitumor ac tivity in advanced renal cell carcinoma (RC), with approximately 15% (range, 5 to 29%) of patients subjected to IFN-a therapy exhibiting a major objective response. We assayed 16 RC cell lines for intrinsic sensitivity to the growth-inhibitory effects of recombinant IFN-a. Similar to results observed in patients, cultured RCs cou...

Stimulation through CD40 on mouse and human renal cell carcinomas triggers cytokine production, leukocyte recruitment, and antitumor responses that can be independent of host CD40 expression.

CD40, a member of the TNFR superfamily, is expressed on a variety of host immune cells, as well as some tumors. In this study, we show that stimulation of CD40 expressed on both mouse and human renal carcinoma cells (RCCs) triggers biological effects in vitro and in vivo. Treatment of the CD40+ Renca mouse RCC tumor cells in vitro with an agonistic anti-CD40 Ab induced strong expression of the ...

Introduction & Objective: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC, also called malignant hepatoma) is a primary malignancy (cancer) of the liver. Most cases of HCC are secondary to either a viral hepatitic infection (hepatitis B or C) or cirrhosis (alcoholism being the most common cause of hepatic cirrhosis. Recently, the biological activities of zingiber officieale plants have been reported as possess...

Exosomes derived from IL-12-anchored renal cancer cells increase induction of specific antitumor response in vitro: a novel vaccine for renal cell carcinoma.

Exosome-based immunotherapy for cancer holds promise, but needs improvements, especially for tumor-derived exosomes. We investigated, whether exosomes derived from IL-12-anchored human renal cancer cells could enhance their immunogenicity and increase induction of specific antitumor response. A mammalian co-expression plasmid of glycolipid-anchored-IL-12 (GPI-IL-12) was constructed by subclonin...
